Child care assistance

The Australian Government provides different types of financial assistance to help with the cost of placing children in child care. The main payments to eligible families are:

Child Care Estimator

The Child Care Estimator allows families and carers to obtain an estimated dollar value of possible Child Care Benefit (CCB) and Child Care Rebate (CCR) entitlements, as well as their out-of-pocket child care costs.

In order to utilise the Estimator, you will need to know:

  • the type of approved child care service being used, including session (e.g. daily or hourly rate)
  • the cost of your child care fees
  • your estimated annual income

Information about child care fees can be obtained from a quote provided to you by a child care service, or via the search function on this website. You can also provide an estimate of what you think these costs may be, although this will affect the accuracy of the final estimate of your entitlements and out-of-pocket costs.

To access the Child Care Estimator, click on the green button on the right-hand-side of this page.
